Bretton
Woods, New Hampshire - Bretton Woods has really
come in to its own over the past couple of years and the
resort is only getting better this season. Traditionally,
Bretton Woods relied on drawing skiers and snowboarders
from the nearby Mt. Washington Valley (30 minutes to the
east) and the Lincoln/Woodstock area (30 minutes to the
west). However, after recently being acquired by the Mt.
Washington Hotel, Bretton Woods now offers more than ever.
The terrain on the mountain has a decided beginner and intermediate
style to it but advanced skiers and riders have some excellent
glades from which to choose.
Bretton Woods also offers one of the top
cross country areas in the eastern United States. Over 100
kilometers of trails stretch through wooded areas and across
wide open golf course terrain.
The Mt. Washington Hotel, adjacent
to the cross country center and across the street from the
alpine area, is a luxurious throwback to hotels at the turn
of the century. As a result of recently completed renovations,
the Hotel is opening for winter operations this season,
offering skiers and snowboarders a unique opportunity to
ski and stay in one of New England's grandest hotels.
